Can more be done to make summer camps inclusive?
I'm lucky I live in Dartmouth, and have a chest freezer. I bulk up at Gateway, Dave's and Dollar Stores. Today I reluctantly visited Costco for medicine, dairy and bread. I'll end up in the grocery store when I run out of sundries and stuff, but now my shopping has changed forever; boycott or not.
"I spend hundreds of dollars on like three or four items". Are you my ex?
at a time when housing, education and medical services are under so much strain, do we really need this now?
Awesome…
this is amazing
Let's take the boycott against Loblaw's to protest the inflation of food prices further and boycott Trudeau in the next election. 🇨🇦
Fantastic
What a great projekt, why think of money. It is only currency. We all deserve what we need.
This is what socialism is for. Meanwhile the US spends 880 billion on defense and nothing even close to this exist.
Brilliant. Well done. Best of luck with the community ❤
Maybe it's an attempt at a direct pipeline into their already established residency programs
" nah, nah, get that out of your god dam head", ...... That's a commitment in the shape of a boat anchor.
So what’s her solution?
I’m glad he is safe enough that she can take a vacation. The exhaustion of caretaking 24/7 for many years takes a great toll on mothers with special needs children.
Father's to!
An alien base .
I don't want to go into details of how and why, but about halfway across the ferry route lies Tony's wallet with a couple hundred bucks in it.
Still talks about that after all these years, does he?
Cheers from Wisconsin, US! There ARE communities like this mother’s ORIGINAL vision!! If anyone reading this has disabled loved ones and is interested in learning more about how to get started with a community like this in their area, I URGE you to research Home of Our Own, Prairie Haus in Wisconsin. They offer consultations to anyone looking for information on how you get started with a community like this
Wow. Compassion.
That is AWESOME.
I'm in the States but I am the mother of an autistic child and this makes my heart so happy I pray that someday I will be able to force my local government into doing something like this because we have a lot of autistic people in my area so we need to be able to depending I should say where they're at on the Spectrum encourage them to live like an adult you know I mean they should be able to take care of themselves depending on the Spectrum where they're at their we should encourage that we should encourage them to be productive and want to live on their own we should not shove them in institutions that's not okay I will not ever let that happen to my child
America, look at this PLEASE!
Hello 🙂 America is doing exactly what this mother’s dream was for her son. Affordable, safe housing for disabled adults who require 24/7 care. In Wisconsin! The government didn’t do it, though. Some very dedicated, brilliant mamas came together and made it happen for their children. And unfortunately, I think that’s what it’s going to take to bring this kind of housing to more areas because the government isn’t currently interested in investing into communities like these for our disabled folks.
in 2 days it will be 40 days since eclipse.
It’s almost interesting to watch a documentary about a cutting edge community, but then I don’t think I actually learned anything at all about Ryan’s Park outside of the fact it’s super expensive and not sustainable. Maybe?
Yeah, I had to do some digging to really understand this community. The community is for people with disabilites and non-disabled as well. Watching the video you are led to beleive that it is a community for those special needs only and it is somehow paid for by who? But it is a "pocket community" built with disabilties in mind, special floor plans etc. but anyone can live there and they are going for market rate with no government sponsor or financial supports.
Prayers ❤ and thank you so much. Will never understand how/why your community is not welcoming. Shame on them.😢😢
WTF, lady is complaining that there are not enough doctors, so lets train less doctors?
I remember back in the day, when vacuums were sold door to door, training included a tricky tactic of making the vaccum look like it sucked up way more than it ever would or could.
Let’s have a look at the mud and anchor marks at bottom of a harbour …. OR. Feed and house some homeless citizens…. Hmmmm. Mud is more interesting. Let’s do that. So we can show. Justin that it’s ok to dump more stuff in the harbour…
As a navy veteran for 20 years back in the day, I can tell you that in the navy dockyard area alone there has to be thousands of items on the floor bottom tossed out of scuttles of navy ships for the past 200+ years. We'll see.
lol well soon they will ban ships coming to Canada
A three floor home for one person. They went a tad overboard on expenses.
It isn’t really one person though when he requires round the clock care. The carers need space to hang out too and have some privacy since they’ll be there at all hours all day and night and need to be able to have a sleeping area.
From what I can tell the community isn't just for special needs people, like she said they are luxury housing. So they needed to build nice homes that anyone would want to live in, not just purpose built homes for special needs peoples.
This is what community looks like, people.
Yep, it looks very expensive, paying salaries of two full-time caretakers for one person plus the rent and utilities and other expenses while still covering all expenses for your own self which is a struggle for most people.
One thing that the Indians have to offer is free tv i pay 150 a year and dont regret it one bit free sports free movies free tv i used to pay 80 bucks a month for rogers cable and still would have to pay extra so see the hockey game or basketball... My mom gets to watch her reality tv everyone in my house enjoys this i know i could even be getting these services cheaper but i dont mind supporting a small business owner who is giving a service to working people like me and you.
I’m wondering how this will work as long as LawPro, the Ontario bar association and others, still incentivizes ableism.
I was told by a former Volvo employee that those cars were intentionally placed in the Basin to test various rust treatments that they were using on the car bodies.
Tim Horton's should be sponsoring this, considering the amount of garbage that business creates every day. How many Timmie's cups there are on the harbour floor, do you think? I'm betting several hundred thousand.
I have two girls with autism one is verbal and the other non verbal with severe behavioral disorder , a 24/7 job .
God bless you, Mama. I'm sorry you've got so much on your hands with your dear girls.
My girls are healty ,this is a blessing for me .
Hire retired doctors to teach at medical school.
They are unlikely to be current on the best practices, especially as they are retired.
@@Matt-fl8uy you don't think they keep up on current techniques?
Might not hurt to include cameras inside the homes and courtyards for safety. Just fear that these types of communities could be infiltrated by abusers.
We need more of this everywhere. People with special needs arnt going anywhere. A disability check means guarenteed rent and a safe place is needed.
A disability check most certainly does not mean guaranteed rent , the maximum amount in Ontario for disability for a single person is $522 a month and somehow that is supposed to cover rent , heat , hydro , water , garbage , rental insurance ( all shelter costs ) . The vast majority of people have to use their food and basic needs amount of $706 to cover the rent and then try to figure out how to buy food , toilet paper , shampoo , cleaners etc for the month .
@@shari9721 man that sucks I'm so sorry Canada sounds very stressful to live in :(
I was so hoping I was going to hear something about the Monte-Blanc and the 1917 Halifax explosion, some evidence of the event still visible on the sea floor.
All provinces need more areas like this. It is actually very difficult for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder of any level and those with ADHD etc to live on their own. They NEED help. And as a parent, it is exhausting and costly. I am not one to normally ask the government for help as I chose to bring these children into the world and feel it is my responsibility to raise them. But they need more than just I can offer.
Same for other challenges like those with bipolar.
No shame in needing help. That’s the whole point of government assistance, or should be. We as a society need to recognize that there will always be those who cannot care for themselves and it’s our responsibility as able bodied healthy people to help those who need it. Any one of us can become permanently disabled at any moment. You never know when you’ll be the one that needs help. Sad we’ve strayed so far from that sentiment.
waste of good tax dollars
1:02 - 1:16 .. 100% agree.. see i dont know why we dont turn the maritimes into farm land and we can produce all the food for canada we all ready have lots of farm land out west why are the farmers not all getting together and growing crops and supporting their communities.. why do we even have grocery stores .. if enough farmers and people get together across canada we can make this change. is that what we all want? we have more then enough money between us as the people to sustain are life.. why not help each other i mean we are already helping the rich get richer and soaking all our money into these major bussinesses and scams.. why not put are money where it should go and then put the money right back into sustaining and keeping are farm lands and what the people need to survive not what they WANT..
This is awesome for those who are ASD-2 and ASD-3. 👍
Asd1 can just figure it out on their own huh?
Great story. I can't wait to see where the "Loc Ness Monster's" summer home is.
Cool stuff. The Teledyne logo/brand in the seventies marketed Acoustic Research speakers, and the Waterpik toothbrush (or was it shower heads?). All those Volvos: 240’s or 740/940’s ? BIO’s floating gabled blue square building for a chunk of my life was a landmark coming in to hfx via Bedford hwy. or by train. Then there was an old wooden tugboat beached near prince’s lodge near the road , until someone torched it to the waterline.
I’ve stopped using Loblaws. Wish more people would. The real answer is a windfall profit tax to punish companies who priced gouged during and after the pandemic 😷 the funds can be redistributed to the people like a GST cheque.
n after the gouging n unfairness, the lieberals r giving The wealthiest grocery store in the country 10 million of Our tax dollars.........10 Million to a corp tht brings in trillions per year n evn paid the former ceo ovr 100 million as a bonus, when We saw grocery prices tht made us go hungry.
Why do they need to see the sea floor?
Mud?
Increase the Legal size, NO! Vee knotch, maybe. Return over 10LB lobster possibly. But larger keepers? Will just cause an excessive cost increase
